According to IRNA, the 2025 edition of the event seeks submissions in three competitive categories and one non-competitive category.
Competitive Categories:
1. Cinema Salvation (International Competition): This category focuses on films addressing themes such as justice, anti-terrorism, Islamic awakening, spirituality, and cultural expression.
Its awards include Crystal Simorghs for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Special Jury Award, and Best Artistic Achievement, each accompanied by a cash prize.
2. Eastern Vista (Films from Asian-Islamic Countries): This section highlights films from Asian and Islamic countries that contribute to the global elevation of cinema. Its awards also include Crystal Simorghs for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Special Jury Award, and Best Artistic Achievement, each with a cash prize.
3. Future Frames (Competition for First and Second Films): Dedicated to discovering and supporting young talents, this category features first and second films from new filmmakers. Its awards include Crystal Simorghs for Best Film, Best Director, and Special Jury Award, each with a cash prize.
Non-Competitive Category:
1. Jahannama Cup (Festival of Festivals): This section shows selected Iranian and international films from other festivals, presented non-competitively.
Additional Features:
- Interfaith Film Award: A statue and honorary diploma for the best film promoting interfaith understanding.
- Resistance Award: A statue and honorary diploma for the best film on Islamic resistance and awakening.
- Special Screenings: Reviews of international cinematographic works.
- Film Market: Scheduled for February 2-5, 2025, with further details to be announced.
Participants can submit their works on August 5-November 21, 2024, via the festival official website (fajrfilmfestival.com).
Submissions must be made by the legal producer or distributor and include English subtitles in Apple ProRes 4444 - Full HD 1920 x 1080 - MP4 H264 format.
Films must be completed from 2023 onwards and have a minimum duration of 75 minutes.
Selected films must not be publicized before the festival, and the festival secretary is responsible for the official selection and invitation.
Iranian films submitted for the national section will be automatically considered for the international sections without re-registration. Once officially announced, selected films cannot be withdrawn from the festival's screening schedule.
Aimed at showing valuable works from Iranian and world cinema, the 43rd Fajr International Film Festival will be held on January 31-February 10, 2025.
